Do you ever wonder why you have to pay the same price for a lift ticket whether it's a sunny Saturday or an overcast Tuesday? Well, the folks at Liftopia have come up with a way to offer discounted lift tickets based on variables like holidays, snow conditions, etc. Liftopia looks and operates much like an online travel site such as Expedia or Orbitz. Non-refundable tickets are purchased for a specific day. Then, just print out the confirmation and head to the slopes.

Liftopia just went live a few days ago and has a fairly limited number of participating resorts, but they are hoping to add more throughout the winter. It will be cool if this idea catches on. I'm all for saving a few bucks on lift tickets. It could add up to a few extra days on the snow - and that's always a good thing!
