A toy store is stocking up on low-maintenance pets. Black Friday brings great gadgets at low prices, AND this year homeowners can find a deal at an online bank. And ski bums have a less-expensive way to enjoy their favorite winter sport.
Welcome to On Sale at FOX Business, where we look at cool stuff and insane bargains.
Sales in Toyland
Toys“R”Us is offering $6,500 in weekend-long savings and doorbuster deals.
Store hours will be extended at most locations through Saturday, with more discounted items to go on sale, such as select Wii Accessories for just $10. Hundreds of additional deals are set to begin at 12:01am Cyber Monday, including 70% off action figures.
Anyone too busy to visit their local Toys“R”Us can visit toysrus.com for exclusive savings on thousands of toys throughout the weekend, plus free shipping on orders of $49 or more. Shoppers looking for the holiday season’s hottest toy – the Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster – shouldn’t have much trouble finding it at Toys“R”Us. The toy-store chain said it will be adding thousands of Zhu Zhu Pets to store inventories throughout the day on Black Friday, with thousands more arriving through the month of December.
Great Tech Deals
Best Buy (BBY: 43.45, 0, 0%) is offering an HP laptop computer for just $197 on Black Friday. The catch: each store will only have 5 of them at this price, so it’s first come, first served.
If you miss that deal, Staples (SPLS: 24.24, 0, 0%) has a Sony Intel Core 2 Duo laptop available for $650. While you’re there, you can pick up a new 23” Acer LCD for $140.
Kmart (SHLD: 70.99, 0, 0%) has a 26” LCD HDTV for $250, and a Sony W180 digital camera for $100. Gamers can find great deals at Target (TGT: 45.82, 0, 0%), where an XBOX 360 120GB Elite Game System Bundle is $300. And if you buy one, you’ll get a $50 Gift Card.
ING Direct is urging customers not to spend, but instead to SAVE their money today.
Its Black Friday Sale includes a special on mortgage closing costs. Anyone who applies for an ING Direct home mortgage on Black Friday gets $683 off closing costs. ING is also offering deals on CDs and checking accounts. You can find out more at ING Direct's Web site.
Liftopia.com, the discount lift-ticket Web site, is offering gift cards for over 120 North American resorts, just in time for Cyber Monday.
Each Liftopia gift card is available in set denominations up to $1,000, and can be used to purchase discount lift tickets at any time – they never expire! Liftopia.com offers lift tickets to resorts such as Banff, Winter Park and Killington for up to 80% off on-mountain prices.
And some Park City ski resorts are bringing back the START (“ski today and ride today”) program for Utah visitors.
Those flying into Salt Lake City early enough in the day to take in an afternoon run or two can turn their airline boarding pass into a same-day lift ticket – for FREE. Deer Valley Resort, the Canyons, and Park City Mountain resort are all partaking in the program. But there are blackout days over Christmas and New Year’s, so know before you go.
