Super deals on Super Sunday
February 4th, 2011
Forget Terrible Towels and foam rubber Cheeseheads: Savvy skiers know that Super Bowl Sunday is one of the best days of the year to score both a great bargain and plenty of elbow room on the slopes, and this weekend's showdown between the Steelers and Packers will be no exception.
"Super Bowl Sunday is a notoriously slow day for ski resorts since folks stay inside prepping chili and hanging out with their buddies," says Ron Schneidermann of Liftopia, an online lift ticket discounter for more than 150 ski resorts across North America. "So we get people out on the hill ahead of the game by offering a date-specific discounted lift ticket."
Schneiderman says 15% of U.S. resorts are participating in this year's promo, which features lift ticket deals of 20% to 60% off regular weekend, on-mountain rates. Among them: Park City, Utah, from $67 (a 26% savings), Killington, Vt., from $62.99 (a 20% savings) and Lake Tahoe's Homewood from $30 (a 47% savings). Tickets must be purchased in advance, resorts can limit the quantities, and there are no changes, refunds, cancellations, or exchanges.
