A couple name changes in the last few years may have some confused about The Canyons Resort in Utah. But its gigantic size and great skiing/snowboarding should leave you anything but confused. Known most recently as Wolf Mountain, The Canyons is Utah’s largest individual resort and one of the five largest resorts in the United States. It is known mostly for its short, steep powder stashes and its enormous 3,700 skiable acres.
One of the three mountain resorts located in Utah’s ... Park City, the Canyons has 163 trails. 10% of its trails are beginner, 44% intermediate, and 46% expert. At a summit elevation of a towering 9,990 feet, The Canyons gets an average annual snowfall of 355 inches. That’s a lot of snow and a lot of places to find it. So if you are up there early on a powder day, take the gondola to Silverado Bowl for wide open turns in a 30-degree bowl.
The run you must hit on any kind of day is Ninety-nine 90, with its breathtaking views and good snow all season. Also don’t miss any of The Canyons’ north-facing glades; they hide snow for days after a storm, or the numerous immaculately manicured high-speed groomers. The Canyons also has two parks, two backcountry access gates, five bowls, eight peaks, six natural halfpipes, and a good lift system to get you where you want to go.
Located a quick half-hour drive to the Salt Lake international airport, 25 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, and an even shorter four miles to rocking Park City, it is ideally located. The base village has plenty to offer, including restaurants, bars, shops, and three sweet slopeside hotels a short walk to the lifts. With such an ideal location, a family friendly base village and supreme terrain for every skier level, The Canyons is another one of Utah’s perfect destination ski resorts.
