Shawnee Peak Ski Area has invested more than $1 million this summer into incredible capital improvements, which are sure to enhance the skiing experience of ... every winter visitor!

* New Summit Express - Faster, bigger, more modern; The Summit Express will get you to the top of the mountain faster than you ever thought possible; A faster lift means more runs per day; Chairs are larger than the old triple, giving you and your riding partners more elbow room and a more comfortable ride.
* Maine's First Conveyor Loading System - Step on the moving conveyor and the chairlift whisks you up and off! Decreases stops & starts by 50%, making the chair run faster and more efficiently.
* Snowmaking on Sunset Blvd - New last year, Sunset Blvd provided skiing and riding from the top of the mountain for lower intermediates and beginners; Snowmaking will allow this popular trail to open earlier and close later in the season.
* Additional air compressor - Shawnee Peak acquired a new air compressor for snowmaking operations, which means more late-season snowmaking capabilities when needed.

Shawnee Peak (ME) Reviews & Tips (10)

A great mountain !! We went on a cold Saturday (1/31/14) the snow was fabulous. The employees that work the lifts great, we had minimal waits at the lifts despite many people on the mountain. We love it here great diversity for an intermediate skier! Cannot wait to go back

It is a great place to snowboard, however it is quite icy toward the top of the mountain. And also the ride on the ski lift is really slow. The view is amazing thou:)

Go East! And up! The views are fabulous, on a clear day look out over the White Mountains and you might get a peek at Mt. Washington. In the East basin is a lovely, little lodge for a rest stop and refueling - water, pizza, yogurt, soda or beer. Great sking for the whole family from my elder (the senior) in the group brother, to my daughter, the beyond amazing G-S in her dreams queen. We loved it, all over again, as we do year after year.

I'm a student at Bridgton Academy, and as a student I get free everything at Shawnee Peak. Up until this year here, I had never snowboarded or skied in my life. And I'm so happy I'm taking advantage of the amazing opportunity that the school and Shawnee Peak are offering me and the rest of the students here. I've looked up prices, though, and they're pretty affordable for a day or two, and I'll definitely be going back next season when I'm a BA alumnus and I have to pay. The trails are awesome; for beginning skiers/snowboarders, you could go down Pine Slope, which is their main intermediate lift, and be able to pick it up in a day or two if you really work at it. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they really like their jobs. There are lessons for beginners all the time, so if you get a chance to sign up, do it. Granted, there aren't as many trails as a place like Sunday River, but it's still a great mountain with great trails and a staff that cares. Five out of five.

We use Shawnee when the snow is "bad" at other areas. It may seem like a small ski area to many, but it does ski bigger than the stats would lead one to believe; the views are amazing; the people are friendly and the conditions are noramlly very good. New Years day was our first day out and the morning snow was firm, but sun softened beautifully. Its a great place to cruise with a varied group of skiers and all but the hardest hard core experts will enjoy themselves here. We could have skied groomers at other areas with big crowds New Years day, but skied here alone for the first 2 hours.

We had a wonderful time last Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the conditions were icy, due to the previous night of ice/rain, but the groomers came out again mid-day and worked their magic on the sunny west slopes. Tuesday was absolutely groomed to perfection, and we enjoyed every open trail. The east side was closed, due to lack of snow. Mother Nature took away the 13” of snow SP rec’d the previous week. More snow on the way, we hope. Night skiing Monday night was well received by all. The food and drinks (Moosehead beers on tap) were superb both days. The chef on Monday night knew his stuff—best Black Angus chili/Philly steak/ French fries/ potato skins/ hot chocolate/ coffee drinks after a tasty Malbec wine. Gee, did we eat all that?! Can’t wait to try it again with Liftopia.
