Offering New England's MOST Night Skiing, Shawnee Peak offers incredible snow conditions, terrain for all abilities and it's all just 20 minutes from North Conway, 2 1/2 hours from Boston and 1 hour from Portland, ME.

Shawnee Peak Ski Area has invested more than $1 million this summer into incredible capital improvements, which are sure to enhance the skiing experience of... every winter visitor!

* New Summit Express - Faster, bigger, more modern; The Summit Express will get you to the top of the mountain faster than you ever thought possible; A faster lift means more runs per day; Chairs are larger than the old triple, giving you and your riding partners more elbow room and a more comfortable ride.
* Maine's First Conveyor Loading System - Step on the moving conveyor and the chairlift whisks you up and off! Decreases stops & starts by 50%, making the chair run faster and more efficiently.
* Snowmaking on Sunset Blvd - New last year, Sunset Blvd provided skiing and riding from the top of the mountain for lower intermediates and beginners; Snowmaking will allow this popular trail to open earlier and close later in the season.
* Additional air compressor - Shawnee Peak acquired a new air compressor for snowmaking operations, which means more late-season snowmaking capabilities when needed.

Had a man made snow. Conditions were great! Not too many skiers. All trails were groomed.

We use Shawnee when the snow is "bad" at other areas. It may seem like a small ski area to many, but it does ski bigger than the stats would lead one to believe; the views are amazing; the people are friendly and the conditions are noramlly very good. New Years day was our first day out and the morning snow was firm, but sun softened beautifully. Its a great place to cruise with a varied group of skiers and all but the hardest hard core experts will enjoy themselves here. We could have skied groomers at other areas with big crowds New Years day, but skied here alone for the first 2 hours.

We had a wonderful time last Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the conditions were icy, due to the previous night of ice/rain, but the groomers came out again mid-day and worked their magic on the sunny west slopes. Tuesday was absolutely groomed to perfection, and we enjoyed every open trail. The east side was closed, due to lack of snow. Mother Nature took away the 13” of snow SP rec’d the previous week. More snow on the way, we hope. Night skiing Monday night was well received by all. The food and drinks (Moosehead beers on tap) were superb both days. The chef on Monday night knew his stuff—best Black Angus chili/Philly steak/ French fries/ potato skins/ hot chocolate/ coffee drinks after a tasty Malbec wine. Gee, did we eat all that?! Can’t wait to try it again with Liftopia.
