My wife and two daughters skied China Peak on Sat 3-24 and it was a picture perfect day of great snow, no lines and sunshine. We live in Los Angeles and used to ski Mammoth all the time but since we've discovered China Peak we bought season passes there instead. The lessons are great for kids and reasonable. My only negative is that the margarita I bought on Sat was $9 bucks. Kinda pricey. Sulley is a good man (at the Bar) but prices could be more reasonable.....would have bought a second one if they were.

We stayed at the lodge and they were super accommodating, even tho we changed our dates due to an incoming storm. We got up there for the probably most beautiful days of this Spring season. Everyone at the lifts was friendly and helpful too.
We had a blast.
PS: In need of road assistance, we found out that AAA has services out of Shaver lake.

The snow was well groomed, but some icy patches showed through in the later afternoon. It was a fun day.

My two daughters and I stay in a cabin at Lakeshore Resort just a short drive from China Peak. We make breakfast and dinner in the cabin and enjoy getting away from the crowd after a day on the slopes. The resort is rustic and not fancy but that's how we like it. It has a restaurant if you don't want to cook. And the saloon is great for happy hour after skiing. Also snow mobile rentals with LOTS of trails if that's of interest. Have fun!

Staying at the Inn is the way to go. Just got back from a trip with nine of us and it was very accommodating. Upgrades are noticeable. Love the mountain. Never any lines and everyone is so friendly. Lots of lifts and runs - never can get bored.

A very nice medium size resort. Enough terrain to keep you discovering new trails for a more than a few visits. Food in lodge a bit pricey for quality. Great day trip for folks who live on the central coast.
