Aspen Mountain is a large resort located in Aspen, Colorado. To the locals, this mountain is known affectionately as Ajax, and is also the most advanced exclusive of the 4 Aspen mountains. With no beginner slopes, you will find it exhilarating. Eight lifts (6 primary, 2 secondary) take you to some of the best glades, moguls and pitches around. The

general layout of the mountain has advanced and expert terrain offshoots from a network of intermediate trails. While every lift has an intermediate trail in which to fall back on, this seems to be just an easy way to get to a preferred expert glade or pitch. Aspen Mountain has a great view and dining on its sundeck at the peak. Also look out for the famous outdoor shrines (e.g. of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and Jerry Garcia).

Aspen Mountain Reviews & Tips (10)
Purchased the 3 day lift and 3 $20 vouchers for meals. Excellent purchase, but be aware the vouchers are only good during the day!
Skiing was fantastic...blue bird days at Snowmass and Aspen Highlands with a white out all day snow at Aspen in between. I recommend making use of the ambassador tours to become acquainted on the hill...especially during white out conditions!!! If you are there for multiple days, it is nice to meet new folks who ski at your level!

Rent from Four Mountain Sports and you can store your gear right at the base of any of the 4 resorts for free. They will transfer to whatever resort you want for the next morning, and your gear will be waiting there for you. Excellent for those of us who hate to schlepp!!
Also, for an amazing adventure make the hike up the Highlands Bowl. There's a fairly easy way down on the far side of the bowl, if you're intimidated by it's run ratings (Double Diamond). Far side is more like Black into Blue. Well worth every step of the climb!!

Buttermilk is the most open for new skiers. Ventured over to Snowmass. Incredibly scary Blue runs but can be done if you take your time. Most fun and less anxiety for beginners is Buttermilk.
Everything is expensive everywhere you go. More for the rich and famous than general public.

Good deal on the lift ticket. I bought the 2-day lift ticket and received two $20 dining vouchers. I ended up only using one because other people in my group got more from buying additional days for their lift tickets and we had too many to use during lunch time. We also were staying in a ski in/out cabin at Snowmass so we ended up popping in for lunch and eating there instead of eating out at the village. Really enjoyed Snowmass especially since we got a day of fresh powder.

Great deal on the lift tickets and meal coupons. Aspen is awesome, tons of variety. The spring conditions were not great but it is still an awesome resort with cool nightlife. Would definitely recommend the liftopia deal.

I thought the 3-day lift package and food coupons were a grat deal. Made everything convenient. And I got my equipment at Hamilton Sports across from Ajax's gondola plaza. GREAT SKI SHOP!
When in town Campo and Cache Cache are the best restaurants.

Aspen actually surprised me. I didnt expect to like it, but it is a really cool town and the mountain has very sustained vertical drop. Lots of bumps!
