Overview

Loveland Ski Area sits high atop The Continental Divide and offers a ski experience like no other. Just 53 miles from Denver & 12 miles east of Silverthorne, Loveland offers 1,365 acres of terrain and 400" of snow each season. More snow. Less crowds. No Fuss. This is Core Colorado.

Loveland has two base... areas - Loveland Basin and Loveland Valley. Loveland Valley, typically open mid-Nov through early-April, is home to our ski school and features gentle terrain perfect for making your first turns. Loveland Basin offers the intermediate/advanced skiers and riders groomed runs, steeps, bumps, glades and plenty of terrain above treeline to explore. Chair 9 whisks riders up to 12,770 feet atop The Continental Divide where amazing views, open bowls and powder choked chutes await.

Loveland also offers free close-in parking, virtually no lift lines and a laid back, local feel. Whether you are planning a family trip or looking to shred some of Colorado's finest snow, Loveland will not disappoint. There are no hotels or fancy villages here. Just 1,365 acres of terrain and 400" of snow. Visit Loveland and experience Core Colorado.

Please note that children 5 and under ski free!

Reviews & Tips (20)

Loveland Valley is a great inexpensive place to teach the kids to ski and is where I learned as a kid. Even as a more advanced skier I still like to take the shuttle over to Loveland Basin and hit some of the faster, steeper runs. Staff is always friendly and the food prices are not bad compared to most other resorts. It's a quick drive from Denver. Free parking, and a quick walk to the lifts. Renting skis at the resort can take a while, especially during a busy weeks like Christmas. I usually rent in Denver or on the way up in Dumont when I go to Loveland.

Be warned, Loveland does not have safety bars or foot rests on their chairs, not even on the brand new lift. If you don't like heights and are nervous in chair lifts, this isn't a place for you. Interesting trails. Staff was helpful and friendly. Value pricing for a Colorado resort.

Great Price, Zero lift lines, Staff was friendly, and you can park close to lifts. It was rather windy and cold the day I skied, so chair 9 was closed. Chair 4 and 8 were fun. If you like skiing fast, don't go here on a cold day...you'll freeze on the SLOW lifts and the groomed runs aren't long enough to get you warmed up again. You can't beat the accessibility and parking situation compared to other resorts in the area. The terrain is awesome. If Loveland had just ONE high speed lift I would buy a season pass there every year.

I got a great deal for my family and I, through Liftopia. We've skied all of the surrounding ski areas but always seem to come back to Loveland because of the friendly people who work there and the home town atmosphere. It's nice to be treated like one of the local's, not an outsider, even though we're from Iowa. We will be back next year, Thanks.

I love Loveland. By far, this is the friendliest ski area in the region. All skill levels of skier, aside from suicidal cliff jumpers, will find great terrain here. For beginners, the Valley offers a smaller slope with less traffic from more advanced skiers, so both areas tend to run much smoother at the base than much of the competition. For the more advanced skiers, a trip up lifts 1, 8, and 9 offer tons of thrills, and the view from the top of lift 9 (highest quad lift in the world!) is breathtaking. This is a lowkey place, moer like the corner bar than the kickin downtown club, so to say. Most of the clientele here is local, so finding advice on the hill is always easy if needed. The ski patrol is very prompt, and amongst the best I've witnessed in the states. There is no fine dining, but you go here to ski, not to live a posh lifestyle and be gawked at. If there is a problem with Loveland, most people will comment on the wind~ being on the East face of the Continental Divide, there is a fairly constant breeze, and some rather windy days, so appropriate attire is a must. If you want to enjoy the outdoors, and not have your tips chipped by mass crowds, then this is the place to hit! Very welcoming for both skiers and boarders, and hopefully riders as well.

Decent runs for all abilities but more flats than steeps. A-Basin, nearby, is better for more consistent steeps. Bring your own food ... some of the least desirable in the Summit County and adjacent region. Worth the lower price, but not at regular prices. No foot rests on lifts.

Easy living! No trills, just great skiing with easy access! Plenty of action for our beginners even with the Valley closed. NO lift lines, none! Lifts are not slow, but there are no supper fast 6 person lifts. To have the slopes to yourself with excellent conditions at a fraction of the price of the majors is fabulous. Take chair 1 up first.

Loveland was great. We went in April and the weather could not have been better! Temps in the 40's. The snow was great and there were no lines. Only drawback... I need more than 1 day to ski there. I'll be back!

Loveland was a perfect place with kids. Great bunny hills and long green runs. No lift lines and friendly staff. The valley was a great spot. One parent could hang out on the green runs with kids, and one could go on the neighboring lift to do some blue runs.

Loveland is a awesome lil mountain. The more I ski it the more I fall in love with it. Indeed its Colorado's hidden jewel. Can't beat the price and the staff/workers are super friendly. Some of the best I have ever seen at any of CO ski mountains. Great job Loveland!!

Lovelad is a great deal compared to other resorts in Colorado. On Sunday March 6, we had a great morning of powder skiing without tons of people. About the only drawback is that the lifts are slow. This is a great place to come if you are skiing with family. I would absolutely go back if I have the opportunity.

Love Loveland and my great ticket price. Thank you Liftopia. It was -17 (at the base) at 8 am on my day. So we waited until after lunch. It was still bitterly cold with minimal wind. In extremely cold weather, don't start up on the #2 chair--a long, cold, potentially windy ride (-20 that day). Start on chair #1 (short, sheltered ride) and stay in the trees. Head west for blue skiing and ride the double chair. Great powder if you exit double chair to left. If you want black stick with chair #1. Wind direction may dictate whether you want to move around to the South face. Have fun. It isn't always that cold!!

My experience was excellent, however I thought the lift operator/ticket checkers could be more cordial & enthusiastic with skiers & riders.

Got a great deal on Liftopia, and had a great time at Loveland. Plenty of untouched powder runs, and no lift lines all day! Don't expect high speed lifts or fancy ski lodge, but do expect to have a great day skiing. I will return when I am back in CO.

Lots to love about Loveland! No lines, great runs, lots of pow pow to find, close to Denver, etc. Loveland also has a great community and it's easy to feel welcome in the lodge. I had a problem with my boots and the repair shop was happy to give me some quick help to get me back out on the slopes. I'm going to buy a pass here next season! I love Loveland!
