Loveland Ski Area Reviews & Tips (28)

We had such a great time skiing and snowboarding at Loveland over the last week! I'm an intermediate skier while my boyfriend is an expert snowboarder. There was plenty of terrain and trails that we could both enjoy. The ski-able area of the resort is insanely huge and I was much more comfortable venturing on to the diamond and double diamond trails and terrain here than I have been anywhere else. We were lucky enough to get spring conditions as well as a couple of powder days on our trip. We had such a great time, we went four days in a row instead of visiting another nearby resort that was still open this late in the season.

I am a Florida girl but managed to ski 13 times this year. I have never skied in Loveland nor have I ever skied in Mid-April. I must say it was heaven up there. the powder was fresh and delicious. Loved seeing the sign for Awesome in the middle of all that snow. It was awesome. Great way to end my season. I'll be back next year same time.

Loveland provided some of the best powder of the year for me. I loved going there, and the groomed surfaces had me sliding down the mountain with ease. Like A-Basin, it is truly a getaway. On the base, there are all the amenities, and it feels warm like spring. On the top, the peaks remind one of being like on the North Pole. The wind was pelting me with sharp, cold pieces of snow and ice, but it was invigorating! It feels so remote on top, but the slide down could make a green skier feel like a hemi-expert! The price of the lift ticket was (and is) reasonable, and the crowds are thick, but the lines are really short. What a terrific day with a lot of powder left for the season. Two skis up! :>)

We have chosen Loveland for spring break the last 5 years for several reasons: Enormous area with great snow and super short lines (except the beginner hill-when sometimes we take friends there), super great staff from patrol to cafeteria folk, free and close parking, it's a quick drive from Colorado Springs where our friends live, the shuttle between the beginner mountain and the big area is fast & free and Georgetown/Idaho Springs is nearby for motel and dinner. Try to plan ahead on the motel and the weather because a lot of the ski area is near the top of the continental divide so it can get windy, cold and snowy real fast. The cafeteria food is great but expensive so plan on $ or bring an ice chest for your lunch. The ticket agents were friendly and were fast in processing our Liftopia paperwork but make extra copies of it just in case there is a problem. Loveland is awesomely huge and it has nice groomers to super extreme. My family is has a wide range of abilities so I'd recommend taking good walkie talkies: they come in handy to know where everyone is. Have fun!!!

The ski resort was ideal for my family of four with varying degrees levels of ski ability. I would highly recommend this resort for a family friendly, budget conscious time. We skied Loveland the first day of our trip and went back the third day to ski some more. Short lift lins and two sides of the mountain. We'll be back!

Great place to ski. The conditions are always good-even when the snowfall isn't. The runs are never crowded even when the parking lots are full. No lift lines to speak of. Prices are reasonable. You can actually drink a cup of coffee without filling out a loan application. Staff is friendly and dressing rooms are convenient for a quick change if your heading straight to the airport. Liftopia has some great deals.

Pros: Free parking that is really close to lifts. The slopes were not crowded. Cons: The rental shop felt like a rushed assembly line and equipment was not great.

Free parking within walking distance to the ski area, the lifts are a few steps away from parking and the cafeteria. Another great thing - there is a microwave inside the cafeteria, which saves u tons of money and u can bring great food there to heat up. When it comes to leaving, we were sad to go. But glad that we only had a short drive back to the city so we were not stuck driving in the dark as we had the day before when we skiied at Copper. We did not rent equipment from Loveland after our first visit there, as equipment rental seems a bit steep at Loveland. We have been renting our equipment at Sports Rent at 8761 Wadsworth Blvd in Arvada, which has better quality and more affordable equipment than Loveland for the past 2 years. I got a great deal on Liftopia skiing with my family on Jan 12, which also happens to be Loveland's 75th Anniversary celebration! Everyone had free hot chocolate at a counter they set up right beside the ski area, and come lunch time, a slice of the birthday cake. Thanks to Liftopia and Loveland's celebration, I managed to get lift tickets at an incredible price of $37 per person. I love Loveland, its family-friendly environment, I'll be back!!

Loveland Valley is a great inexpensive place to teach the kids to ski and is where I learned as a kid. Even as a more advanced skier I still like to take the shuttle over to Loveland Basin and hit some of the faster, steeper runs. Staff is always friendly and the food prices are not bad compared to most other resorts. It's a quick drive from Denver. Free parking, and a quick walk to the lifts. Renting skis at the resort can take a while, especially during a busy weeks like Christmas. I usually rent in Denver or on the way up in Dumont when I go to Loveland.

Be warned, Loveland does not have safety bars or foot rests on their chairs, not even on the brand new lift. If you don't like heights and are nervous in chair lifts, this isn't a place for you. Interesting trails. Staff was helpful and friendly. Value pricing for a Colorado resort.

Great Price, Zero lift lines, Staff was friendly, and you can park close to lifts. It was rather windy and cold the day I skied, so chair 9 was closed. Chair 4 and 8 were fun. If you like skiing fast, don't go here on a cold day...you'll freeze on the SLOW lifts and the groomed runs aren't long enough to get you warmed up again. You can't beat the accessibility and parking situation compared to other resorts in the area. The terrain is awesome. If Loveland had just ONE high speed lift I would buy a season pass there every year.

I got a great deal for my family and I, through Liftopia. We've skied all of the surrounding ski areas but always seem to come back to Loveland because of the friendly people who work there and the home town atmosphere. It's nice to be treated like one of the local's, not an outsider, even though we're from Iowa. We will be back next year, Thanks.

I love Loveland. By far, this is the friendliest ski area in the region. All skill levels of skier, aside from suicidal cliff jumpers, will find great terrain here. For beginners, the Valley offers a smaller slope with less traffic from more advanced skiers, so both areas tend to run much smoother at the base than much of the competition. For the more advanced skiers, a trip up lifts 1, 8, and 9 offer tons of thrills, and the view from the top of lift 9 (highest quad lift in the world!) is breathtaking. This is a lowkey place, moer like the corner bar than the kickin downtown club, so to say. Most of the clientele here is local, so finding advice on the hill is always easy if needed. The ski patrol is very prompt, and amongst the best I've witnessed in the states. There is no fine dining, but you go here to ski, not to live a posh lifestyle and be gawked at. If there is a problem with Loveland, most people will comment on the wind~ being on the East face of the Continental Divide, there is a fairly constant breeze, and some rather windy days, so appropriate attire is a must. If you want to enjoy the outdoors, and not have your tips chipped by mass crowds, then this is the place to hit! Very welcoming for both skiers and boarders, and hopefully riders as well.

Decent runs for all abilities but more flats than steeps. A-Basin, nearby, is better for more consistent steeps. Bring your own food ... some of the least desirable in the Summit County and adjacent region. Worth the lower price, but not at regular prices. No foot rests on lifts.

Easy living! No trills, just great skiing with easy access! Plenty of action for our beginners even with the Valley closed. NO lift lines, none! Lifts are not slow, but there are no supper fast 6 person lifts. To have the slopes to yourself with excellent conditions at a fraction of the price of the majors is fabulous. Take chair 1 up first.

Loveland was great. We went in April and the weather could not have been better! Temps in the 40's. The snow was great and there were no lines. Only drawback... I need more than 1 day to ski there. I'll be back!

Loveland was a perfect place with kids. Great bunny hills and long green runs. No lift lines and friendly staff. The valley was a great spot. One parent could hang out on the green runs with kids, and one could go on the neighboring lift to do some blue runs.

Loveland is a awesome lil mountain. The more I ski it the more I fall in love with it. Indeed its Colorado's hidden jewel. Can't beat the price and the staff/workers are super friendly. Some of the best I have ever seen at any of CO ski mountains. Great job Loveland!!

Lovelad is a great deal compared to other resorts in Colorado. On Sunday March 6, we had a great morning of powder skiing without tons of people. About the only drawback is that the lifts are slow. This is a great place to come if you are skiing with family. I would absolutely go back if I have the opportunity.

Love Loveland and my great ticket price. Thank you Liftopia. It was -17 (at the base) at 8 am on my day. So we waited until after lunch. It was still bitterly cold with minimal wind. In extremely cold weather, don't start up on the #2 chair--a long, cold, potentially windy ride (-20 that day). Start on chair #1 (short, sheltered ride) and stay in the trees. Head west for blue skiing and ride the double chair. Great powder if you exit double chair to left. If you want black stick with chair #1. Wind direction may dictate whether you want to move around to the South face. Have fun. It isn't always that cold!!

Got a great deal on Liftopia, and had a great time at Loveland. Plenty of untouched powder runs, and no lift lines all day! Don't expect high speed lifts or fancy ski lodge, but do expect to have a great day skiing. I will return when I am back in CO.

Lots to love about Loveland! No lines, great runs, lots of pow pow to find, close to Denver, etc. Loveland also has a great community and it's easy to feel welcome in the lodge. I had a problem with my boots and the repair shop was happy to give me some quick help to get me back out on the slopes. I'm going to buy a pass here next season! I love Loveland!
