Only sharing because its fair but if you don't like great staff, no lines and plenty of different runs for beginners to experts do not come here and keep it for those who know. Fresh powder every day of our trip and the absolute best place to train the kids. Our 5 year was scared of skiing due to the midwest ice slopes, add a couple inches of fresh powder every day and a couple of lessons from great teachers and she now has the confidence to be dangerous. Would highly recommend Sunlight to anyone, especially those with young ones. If I had to complain about something the lifts are slow, but you never wait so its a wash.

We went Wed-Friday in Mid February and it was amazing. The mountain itself is not as large as others but there are tons of different runs - including some beautiful tree runs that are amazing. The views while going down the mountain are better than anywhere else I've seen. Also there are so few people that I never had to worry about changing pace for someone else. Park to ski time is faster than any place I've ever been at and it is so easy to get in and out of gear in the main breezeway. People are friendly - could not have had a better experience. Liked it as well or better than Keystone, Breck and Winter Park - simply for the ease of access, powder and openness of the runs. You'll enjoy it!

Although I am an advanced intermediate, you would never know it by my skiing. The day I chose was VERY wet. Sloshy snow. Not groomed to my liking either. Lifts are old. I was confused in changing lifts. I went from a clear three person lift to what was a two person lift with a bar. Only I did not realize there had been a change. Needless to say, I fell off the lift with no where to sit in the middle. Then, going down a run a bit later, I took a significant fall and twisted my knee. By 11:00 am I was finished with skiing. Until Colorado cools down, I will not ski again.

President's Day weekend and no lift lines ! Runs were mostly packed and/or groomed. But new snow was good to see.

I love Sunlight, and the Liftopia deals! It's a great place to learn: uncrowded, sweet, and beautiful. I recommend the Ute run, a long green run that held the record of the longest run in Colorado for years. On Thursday afternoon I had the whole 2 1/2 miles to myself, lovely powder on the sides. Be forewarned that Friday mornings are big ski mornings for local school kids, so the easy slopes tend to be little obstacle courses of small children in snow suits lying in the snow with their snowboards. Mostly not crowded though, and midweek afternoons are heavenly. Often no lines in rentals. If you are a beginner, ask for help with the lifts- I hear from others that they are more challenging than lifts elsewhere, but they are slow...just take your time, I love Sunlight!

Sunlight is a hidden gem in Colorado skiing. Green, blue, double blue, black, double black, glades, and tree skiing - whatever you need. No lift lines at all. 2 mile green runs if you want easy cruising. Great snow and groomed runs. Using I get $40 all day adult lift tickets. Spectacular views from the summit.

No lift lines at all (friday) Only three lifts and they are a bit slow but you can get off at top of mountain and do a very long green, or a bunch of blues and there is some seriouse tree skiing when there is enough snow. The price compared to other areas is very good. If you need to rent skiis it is a bit of hit or miss as its small. Food was reasonably priced and good. Parking was great even though we parked in the "far lot" still less then a block to lifts. Cant beat the hotsprings in glenwood for after a day of skiing Go to iron mountain spings for the couples and the big pool if you have kids.

Great place to ski. Lifts never crowded packed powder. Plenty of challenging slopes for all levels and packed powder. Appreciate the military discount. Went back for 3 day skiing venture. Know before you go: There is no true bunny slope lift so for first time beginners and little kids, it might be intimidating at first. If there was a rope / bar tow, this place rocks for learning how to ski. The only thing to keep in mind is that on a very crowded day, the rental equipment can run out. The lift ticket reservation does not account for equipment reservations so show up early on the day or at the turnaround time for 1/2 day.

As a beginner skier, I appreciated the spacious, uncrowded slopes. I personally enjoyed the slower lifts...more time to appreciate the beauty around from above. Best of all, the staff here was very friendly and helpful, working together to make a good experience for everyone.

Pros: -Uncrowded, even on weekends -Folks (both staff and customers) are generally friendlier in small resorts -Good value on lift tickets compared to larger resorts -Sun King is a really interesting intermediate ski run, with plenty of pitch changes and dips -Family friendly, with little chance of getting lost from each other Cons: -Ski lifts are old-school and slow (but lack of lift lines makes up for the slow chairs) -If you're a pretty good skier you'll want to move on after several days -Limited snow-making capability, so not a good choice if there's little natural snow

Great spot! If you're looking to avoid the "to be seen and ski" attitude, this is your spot. Sunlight is a casual, down to earth place with great terrain; varied enough for all levels of skier/snowboarder to enjoy. Definitely make this a go to on your next trip to the area.

Wait until around 11 am before you start skiing! Little ice early on but when the sun came out the snow was awesome! Don't wear to many clothes! It got so warm, I had to take my ski gloves off on the lift. Great little ski mountain!! Enjoy!

The lifts are slow, it's true, but this is a knarly little hill that will surprise you. The blacks and double blacks are for real. Plenty for the casual skier, but serious skiers will be in for a pleasant surprise.

My family and I really enjoyed our first visit to Sunlight. On a busy President's Day weekend, we were able to park just below the lift, and walked right up to the ticket window to pick up our Liftopia tickets. The mountain is laid our really nicely and skis very vvell - lots of options for different trails to take. Great views from the summit, and I especially enjoyed the aspen tree groves and glades - very scenic. I just wish the lifts were faster so we could have gotten more runs in - there were a lot of trails we didn't get to ski, and it's not that big of a mountain. I would definitely recommend Sunlight for its affordability, variety of terrain, and overall great experience.

It has been a few years since we have been to Sunlight, but are so glad we came back. The staff is the best-so friendly and helpful-just adds to a great time, lift line moves so well almost wanted more time to joke with the operators. And pickup of our tickets went faster than someone paying with a cc, the staff was so organized-it was easy and on the slopes in no time at all. The runs were great, snow fun and scenery is the best. Can't wait to get back and do it again!

My wife and I recently skied Sunlight mountain. After almost 20 years of skiing Vail and Beaver Creek we decided to try some of the other ski areas in the area. We also were trying to same some money and still have a pleasant ski vacation. I found Sunlight Mountain here on Liftopia and decided to give it a try. We enjoyed our day very much. We had wonderful weather and never stood in a lift line. The lifts only have 2 and 3 seat old slow chairs but because we never stood in line, it gave our legs some time to recover from the previous run. The employees were very nice and helpful. All in all it was a fun day and we would definitely go back again. One tip, we went to the hot springs, in nearby Glenwood Springs, after our ski day was over and what a way to relax after a long day of hotloading!

I went here as a kid 30 years ago and took my family back last winter. Just as I remembered, a blast. Great variety of terrain, WONDERFUL employees, laid back atmosphere. You can stay on the hill for the price you pay at other places to drive back and forth, which is such a great deal when you have kids. Food is good and very reasonably priced. If you want really good food head down to Glenwood Springs, take a dip in the pool while you're there. I really don't understand spending hundereds more to wait in lines with stressed out people.

Another fantastic trip to Sunlight. There simply isn't a better skiing value to be had. Lift tickets from Liftopia at $47/day in high season and lunch for 6 that totaled $55. Basically about 1/3 the cost of any of the "big" named places. The people are awesome and the snow was great.

Had a great day of spring skiing at Sunlight during spring break. Great long runs. Had the slopes almost to ourselves. Great long easy runs for a beginning skiier or snowboarder. Convenient free parking right at the base of the mountain. Convenient lockers available. Friendly helpful staff. Buy your tickets at Liftopia...When I went to the ticket window the gal had them on the top of her pile and did not care to see the voucher. The vibe at Sunlight is what I want from my skiing experience just skiing and ridiing and if you are a beginner this is the place to learn. The staff is super friendly and the runs are as good as anywhere. Please do not tell anyone about this place I want to keep it a sceret.

Awesome Mountain with a great atmosphere and staff. I took my two friends who were in town and learning how to ski and they both had a great time. The lift tickets were much more reasonable than other resorts and the reason I chose there for them. The mountain had plenty of runs for them to learn on and and some real technical trails that I enjoyed.

We had a great time at Sunlight...conditions were terrific especially since everywhere else we've skied in Colorado this season has been sketchy. Loved staying right on the mountain so that when we got cold (temp was single digits!) we popped in our condo to warm up. Only negative was that we didn't check the Sunlight calendar of events before purchasing lift tickets on Liftopia...the mountain was having a special deal for $15! We would have saved lots of bucks.

Check the mountain to see how many lifts are open before purchasing your ticket. I realized the price was probably so low because they didn't have all lifts running. It was a bummar.

Not like the most prestigious resort but definitely worth visiting. Check it out on your way to Aspen/Snowmass. Hardly ever crowded even on holiday weekends. Great runs for every level. Good ticket prices. Only 1 small complaint: No high speed quads. They still have the old style fixed grip lifts and it takes two rides to reach the top. I make it a point to go to Sunlight every time I take a trip. The staff is friendly and helpful especially the head ski patroler Norm Wheeler. He has been there a long time and will help anyone.

I brought my 5 year old son to Sunlight to ski and it was great. Very friendly staff, great terrain for him as a beginner, great terrain for me as an intermediate while he was in his lesson, wonderful snow conditions, etc etc etc. Loved the small scale of everything, what a pleasant surprise compared to big, overpriced resorts. The only drawback were the old double chairs with the bar in between the seats - they were definitely a little difficult to ride with my small child. I will definitely ski here again if I am back out in Colorado and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Also, purchasing the lifts tickets through Liftopia was easy as could be, and saved me 20% off already reasonably priced tickets.

It had been over 10 years since I last visited Sunlight. My wife had never been. We were staying in Avon, CO, looking for a way to ski without spending an arm and a leg. I recommended Sunlight to my wife and she hessitantly accepted--though the ticket price through Liftopia was the deciding factor. Once we arrived, the snow was great, and my wife fell in love with the area--saying it's her favorite ski area now. We have a 10 year old son and he enjoyed the challenging terrain Sunlight offers...We'll be back!

Convinced my family (two daughters, two husbands, three grandchildren) who live in Louisiana to skip Vail, Breckenridge, etc. They not only saved a load of money with the hotel/pool/ski deal, they had a fabulous time. My son-in-law who has visited some Colorado resorts in the past has decided "Sunlight is my favorite place." Keep up the good work and fight the urge to go "main stream".

Sunlight has always been a great, largely under-rated mountain. The lifts are efficient (no need for high-speed lifts with fast moving double chairs with lots of cueing and assistance resulting in few misloads), good variety of runs and great tree skiing. The extreme terrain is also nice especially with the widened run-out to return to the base. Still hoping for a lift installed over there one day but just fine the way it is for now. Never crowded, friendly staff, something for everyone. My Daughter skied it for her first time and loved the mountain, wants to go back. I would recommend to any serious or family-style skier or rider. I also enjoyed the trail signs made from old snowboards. Very classy! Keep up the good work!

My family & I have skied at Sunlight Mtn. while on vacation from Vermont now for 3 years. It has a great mix of challenging, intermediate and beginner terrain. And the layout is ideal for allowing those with a variety of skills to end up together at the bottom of the mtn, as all trails bring you there. No frills. Very helpful and friendly lift attendants. And with lift tickets easily half the price (and more with Liftopia)of the "Big Four" down the road, you can't beat it.

My family has been going to Sunlight now for about 10 years. The snow is always powdery, evn when packed, the staff is always friendly. You never feel like it's a fashion show! This year we met a very nice man working on the lifts who told us great places to eat at night. And speaking of food, everything is reasonably priced. We live 12 hours away in Oklahoma and there are closer places to go, but Sunlight is well worth the drive! As a bonus,I highly recommend driving to Carbondale for breakfast at the Village Smithey and some unique shopping. And on the way, look towrds the golf course for the large herd of Elk!!!

This is what skiing is all about. Don't expect heated sidewalks or $100 lunches. Just great skiing. My wife and I each took a group lesson. Basically, we each got a private lesson. I skied with the ski school director and had my own private mountain guide. My wife had her own instructor and, with his focused attention, vastly improved and gained confidence.
