Buttermilk is the easiest of the Aspen resorts, which can be a nice break from the intensity of the other resorts. A great learning mountain, Buttermilk has 35% easy runs, 39% intermediate, and 26% advanced. In addition to having great beginner terrain, the resort has a great ski and snowboard school. The mountain caters especially to snowboarders, and freestyle lovers ... will find a place at Buttermilk, which boasts the world’s longest terrain park. The freestyle terrain has been recognized as some of the best in the world. Buttermilk has consistently hosted the Winter X Games since 2002. For the hardest freeride terrain on the mountain, take the Upper Tiehack chairlift to the East summit and ride the Tiehack Parkway to a suitable trail or glade. Overall, Buttermilk is the Aspen center for beginners and freestyle snowboarders. Read more

Buttermilk Reviews & Tips (2)

Snow gets packed good under the lifts. Main lift is a decently long ride with nice views. Lots of wide open spaces as well as tight trails (which are fantastically well-marked.) Wood go again. A fantastic area for beginners, especially beginners who are starting to edge up into 'intermediate' level.

Sam Intermediate Snowboarder
My first time in Aspen, my first time skiing. It was amazing! the best feeling in my life while I was going downhill. Really nice tracks for beginners and once you take a little bit of confidence in your style, you can try intermediate tracks. I took one lesson for about 4 hours and it was enough to get alone by myself and explore the mountain. Of course they have a really good staff who is always looking forward to help everyone who is having a problem. And is about 10 minutes by bus from Aspen downtown. So it is really easy to move around. I recommend it a 100% for everyone who is planning to visit this beautiful place. Such a great mountain, such a great place! I hope to go back some day.
