Overview
- 69 Expert
Silverton Mountain is the ultimate expert and advanced skier experience located near Silverton, Colorado, with 1 ski lift. The idea is to go up the ski lift then either ride down or hike horizontally to your preferred trail. This mountain has up to 80 people riding a day, and is one of the best places to find expert untracked powder... in a guided or unguided format. To ski here you will need to make a reservation, as space is limited. One interesting feature you should check out is the helicopter skiing Silverton Mountain offers, which can be one of the best experiences out there. Overall, Silverton is great for advanced and expert skiers looking for untracked snow and steeps. There are many local lodging options close to the resort. Read more

Do you know what expert means? Can you ski Snowbird, Squaw, Jackson, or Whistler in any conditions? Do you like no frills, real ski towns? Want to ski with humble hardcore guides? If yes go to Silverton. Silverton will challenge anyone, the terrain is more equal to the BC not a ski resort. Even if you are an excellent skier the elevation here will hit you hard unless you live above 10K already. The town is wonderfully dead, guides are awesome, apres is a yurt filled with tired folks standing around a wood stove, drinking whatever is on tap with a side of whiskey. This place is about skiing and nothing else. Don't bring your girlfriend/dad/mom/boyfriend/college buddies if they can not rip, it will not be fun for them or you. Spring non guided season is great, mid winter can be amazing after a storm. Hit it on a Thursday after it has been closed for 4 days and ski the best lift accessed of your life. Hot springs in Ouray are $$.
