Woods Valley Reviews & Tips (2)

I have a friend in Holland Patent that we visit each winter and a highlight of our trip is skiing/snowboarding at Woods Valley, which is only about a 25 minute drive from her home. It's a great family mountain where you run into each other often, even if you are at different skill levels, so there's lots of togetherness. My 7-year-old and I stick to the green trails and the glades (which are super-fun) and my teenage boys (one skier and one snowboarder) enjoy the park (which has BIG jumps) and the advanced/expert trails. Two of my kids have taken private lessons at Woods Valley (which are reasonably priced) and the teachers (Sean was wonderful!) are great. We went to Sugarbush last year and I didn't see my teenagers all day -- not my idea of family bonding. So, if you want to spend time with your kids and still have a challenge, this is a great place to go. I can't say enough good things about this hidden gem!

Woods valley has great natural and man-made snow ,glades, fun and challenging runs. And Only Forty minutes from East Utica ! What a relaxing restaurant and lodge-cozy on up to the fireplace...Skied there almost every season from 1970 to 2010-a very satisfied repeat customer.. Unfortunately there was one occasion in the 1990`s that I was given a great toboggan ride by the Professionally Trained Ski Patrol Members, after I caught an edge and landed incorrectly.Recovered from my shoulder injury ,and three weeks later I was Alpine skiing once again at Woods valley. Points to consider while writing:
  • - Definitely talk about the snow, the lifts, the quality of the run, the staff/instructors
  • - Would you go again?
  • - What would you say to others with your skill level who are interested in going?
