Mont Sutton Reviews & Tips (6)

Skied at Orford for two days before going to Sutton, worst conditions I have ever skied on, no groomed trails, ice everywhere, only one detachable and it was packed. I would recommend Jay Peak

Skiing early in the midweek is definitely recommended, as early in the day as possible. Crowds build up later in the day. Working your way rider's left will also avoid other skiers as everybody begins with the great run just off the main lodge. Our group (5) from Rochester ski the Townships every spring as our last Hurrah to the season. We ski Orford, Owl's Head and our favorite Sutton. Great time this year, even at Orford where we got our day in just as the rains arrived. Sunshine, blue skies and spring snows at the other two. Am already looking forward to next season. Oh, we are all senior skiers (which translates to guys in their late 60s and up).

A unique and interesting mountain. Tons of glades and natural features. Not your typical mountain. Very old school. I think advanced and expert skiers will enjoy this place more than novices. A high percentage of skilled women skiers when I was there. Well worth a visit.

There for "American Week" Feb 2015. Very cold to -13 F made for NO lift lines. Snow was fabulous, no ice anywhere that I saw, though I did not ski any black diamonds this year. I love intermediate, twisty, gladed trails here., more interesting than a boring run straight down, although that exists for those who want it. Phenomenal counter staff help you get the best lift ticket deal (Heide, maybe?). An easy route up the 3 chair and over to the 4 chair lets even intermediate skiers eat lunch at the top. We go to Sutton this week every year since 1998, our extended family since 1970's. Lift tickets with discounts less than half U.S. prices. We never want to go anywhere else, our advanced skiers in family like it better than any other mountain, including out West or New England.

Sutton is a nice mountain it features 3 peaks which range from mostly beginner and intermediate on the 2 lower peaks and mostly advance diamond and double diamond on the higher peak, there are several lifts (6or7) I am an advanced rider 44 yrs on the snow mostly 40 + days a year. while I can and do ride anything I prefer high speed carving and in this catagory I found sutton lacking a bit, the beginer slopes are obviously full of beginers and the there are few intermediate slopes that cater to this type of riding more glades and sous bois. as for the advanced slopes it was a bit icy when I rode so I avoided this area as I was not intrested in ice slopes overall it's a nice place friendly helpfull staff. there is wifi at he main lodge but be aware it's not a new mountain and the facilities show their age even the lifts other than the high speed quad most are old and a few really old and slow. We rode during the week mid February so it wasn't too busy and that was nice over all a passing grade but I don't think I'll be back regularly.

Sutton is an excellent skier's mountain - my personal favorite in the Eastern Townships. It's not huge but it's steep and challenging with plenty of glades and lots of snow. 1/2 the mountain is black diamond plus. Ski the #4-#7 chairs for very short wait times and lots of challenging runs.
