Boyne Highlands Reviews & Tips (20)

Go to the ski show in October every year and get $12 lift tickets good for both Boyne ski resorts. It saves a lot of cash.

Skied the weekend of March 14 at the Highlands and had a good Sunday Tip : If you can't buy a discounted ticket thru Liftopia stop at almost any Shell gas station in Michigan, buy ten gallons of gas, have the attendant stamp your receipt and get two for one Sun.-Thurs. at the Boyne ticket window.

Beware of doing a 360 and getting your ski heels crossed. Snowplowing backwards can get you two broken legs !! How do you get out of that position without injury?? The snow was just starting to melt - not slushy at all. We were there on a Saturday in early March and it was beautiful! Not crowded. I can only hope to be able to ski again :-) The Highlands are perfect for all skiers.

Watched the weather forecast and wasn't disappointed. Worth the 4-hour drive north for very good conditions. A half a foot of powder fell and made for a great day of boarding at the Highlands on Tuesday. The money my wife and I saved buying discounted tics through Liftopia payed for our hot cocoa and lunch.

Great skiing in Michigan! Wasn't very crowded on a Saturday, and there are plenty of runs for beginners. Would be a GREAT place to learn to ski. Seems like there are many greens, some blues, and a few blacks. Lockers to store your shoes are $6/day (kind of a rip, but expected) and the 'Slopside Lounge' has very reasonable prices for lunch, alcohol, and other drinks (delicious hot chocolate was only $2!) Renting from Boyne is very easy and good quality gear. Really thought it was a great experience for skiing in Michigan

I always buy the 4 hr flex pass. I do enjoy coming to the highlands for skiing but the rates are getting ridiculous expensive. The rates jumped $10.00 just from last year. I also notice they are cracking down on the time of your start from when you buy your ticket to the exact min of your end time. Also I suggest letting people use the pool and hot to soak after a day of skiing and not be Nazi's and kick them out when they are trying to keep to themselves and relax meanwhile you have hotel guests letting their kids run around the pool and hot tub acting a fool.

Best ski weekend ever this past weekend. An off the radar Friday night dump of 10-12" of fresh powder made for my best ski day in many, many years. As others were seeking groomers I shot off to the side of the mountain and enjoyed run after run uninterrupted in knee deep powder. Good times with family and at Boyne, thanks to good or should I say lucky timing. Forgot what great offerings they have on the grounds. Thanks for your hospitality Boyne and thanks for the great lift rates Liftopia!

I had a great time at Boyne Highlands. Snow was great. The layout has enough options to keep you from getting bored. After 2.5 days there, I was still looking forward to bouncing around the mountain. The staff is friendly and helpful. All and all, it's a great place to ski and I'll be back each year.

It was the most excellent day of skiing ever in my 49 years of skiing. No wait and all the hills were open. The lift operators are very kind, happy and funny! Of course I will go again. Not many mogals for experts, but that isn't my favorite anyhow.

My favorite ski resorts in Michigan are the Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain. I always found friendly support. I am a sit skier using a monoski and the high speed chairs are great for my equipment. The lift operators are always very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend the Boyne resorts to all sit-skiers. Last Friday and Saturday the fast chair at Highlands didn't work because of a clutch failure. However, the lit tickets are good for the Mountain resort too. The resort did everything possible to make the lift work again. Safety is most important.

Despite a tough early season, BH had good snow. Always be sure to ski over the lunch hour as the liftlines shorten while families take a break.

Since we're six hours away and 10-15 degrees warmer it's hard to get motivated to ski but Boyne always delivers with good conditions. One thing overlooked at Boyne is the food. Their soups and chili are a little pricey but always homemade and good.

Easily the best mountain in the Midwest. Huge amount of runs for all levels. Great grooming and hospitality. There is always an employee with in sight if you have any questions or problems. Save big $$ and pack a lunch. They have a spot in the main lodge for lunch packers to keep everything. Ed Kep has pretty much got the timing of the day down perfectly. Expect we hit the interconnect and go to the North Face for a bit before lunch. Over all great place. Highly recommended.

Great time. Friendly attendants. Smooth line flow. We rode on a Sunday all day and had a blast; not very crowded and the snow and weather were excellent. The Liftopia ticket made getting our lift tickets easy [as always]. We arrived when the lifts opened and didn't go in all day until our tickets expired. It was disappointing that there was no night skiing on Sunday. I have to agree with the comment above - go to any resort over Superbowl weekend and expect to have the mountain to yourself! We chose the weekend after President's Day to avoid crowds and it was perfect.

It was GREAT! We have never skiied anywhere north of Caberfae in Cadillac. *Almost* felt like skiied out in Salt Lake City. We saved $$ by booking on liftopia and also saved some extra $$ by packing sandwiches, powerade, and snacks for lunches. Saved on hotel by staying in Petoskey-- found a decent hotel on priceline. Never made it over to Boyne Mtn-- most recommendations were to stay at Highlands if you are a beginner (which I am). Customer service was great-- the guys helping at the lifts were always friendly, and we met a hospitality worker at the top of one of the lifts who offered to take us on a personal "tour" of the place. We also gave us some free vouchers for hot cocoa at the warming hut. Very nice overall!

Boyne Highlands is terrific, and a lot of fun for the entire family! Here's my tip: drop off your skis at the main entrance, and then go park your car; the parking lot is a hefty uphill walk and can be quite cumbersome when you're carrying skis and trying to keep an eye on the kids. Much more crowded than Boyne Mountain; bring a picnic lunch to save $$ on the cafeteria, which can be pretty expensive.

If you're like us and ski at Boyne Highlands on Sunday the best and least crowded time is early. People don't come out until 10:30. Ski the high-speed quad until it gets crowded. Then jog over to Amy's run until lunchtime, at around 12-12:30 most go in for lunch and you can go back to the quad. When they come back out then you go in for a quick lunch.
