Crystal mountain was below my expectations. There were no runs that could challenge me. I was expecting the vertical to be close to boyne mountain's but it was not. There was 10 inches of snow the day I skiied, but it was so busy that it was all skied out in no time. I expected them to groom before the night session but they did not, it was ice and crud for the rest of the night. The lift lines were also very long (10-15 minutes at one point) and the people that ski there cannot seem to get on the lift without falling and the lift would have to be stopped very often.

Usuualy Crystal is a great place to ski for the day with my family of five intermediate and advanced skiers. The banquet room is often open for picnicers and still has some food offers because the cafeteria is not the place for a pleasant break.

With no new snow yet I was impressed by the effort Crystal Mountain has put into getting the mountain completely open! Great conditions with a new Loki high speed quad. Skied on Tuesday and it was almost perfect. Fresh powder would make it so!

Liftopia ticket prices were great. I bought them for friends who do not ski there very often. Crystal is a great family place. Lots of different areas to ski and keep you busy for the day.

I just started boarding in January and found this place sastisfying to meet my needs to warm up on beginner runs, and challenge myself on some tougher blue runs. I spent a good chunk of my day over on the North Face and found it to be very well groomed and maintained, not to mention not too busy at all! I enjoyed the layout; we took the Loki lift up and then took Easy Street coming down, then took the Clipper up to get to the North Face. The liftees were VERY friendly and helpful, and ski patrol very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I did find the prices in the cafeteria to be a bit pricey, but that can be expected. I did enjoy knowing that we could pack a cooler and use grills outside of the Crystal Center to grill lunch if we wanted to. Looking forward to my next trip up.

The layout of this resort is lousy. Very difficult to get from one end (Loki) to the other (Buck). Expert runs are short and not steep. High speed lift goes nowhere vertically. Lounge is undersized and cafeteria is crowded with uncomfortable seating. Might be fun to stay in a condo but I think Crystal MT. is the worst thought out day ski resort in the region.(I skied 35 days in Michigan this season and I feel justified in stating this).

We love the back slopes at Crystal. They are typically less busy, less ice patches and offer a variety of levels. Sunday mornings are a great time to go to Crystal, but after 1 or 2pm there are a lot of people.

Great resort given the limited vert in Mich. All the staff are frendly and helpfull. Split up and ride the single lines when the lifts get long. When you order pizza in the Lift Lounge, save yourself $5 delivery and walk downstaits and pick it up yourself.

We went to Crystal on MLK Day--lines were not bad at all, particularly if you stayed off the main high speed lift. Some tips and comments: -the beginner's area has an excellent magic carpet and is wide enough for snowboarders to practice turns. -for young "park" skiers, there are some fun rails and features to the right when you come off the high speed lift. -the main jumps are well designed. -Nastar runs from 1-3 pm. ($6.00 for 2 runs, $10 for unlimited--go mid-week to avoid lines.) -the elevation isn't that much but you can get some fast runs on Loki (far side). -the boarder cross run is OK but not as good as at Boyne Highlands. -Crystal has set up some short bump runs--watch out though for ice between the bumps. In this regard, Crystal is one of the few places in MI to retain some true black-diamond runs. -if you use a mug in the restaurant, hot water is free. -we like skiing at Crystal but as noted by others, it would be great if they upgraded some of the lifts. -it's alsp too bad there isn't a day lodge with cafeteria right by the parking lot. Like Boyne, Crystal caters to those who stay in the condos.

I ski Crystal Mountain consistently. I like the runs the only problem is the long lines on the weekends. Plus, it would be nice if they had more than one high speed lift. Otherwise, Crystal is a great place to learn how to ski. The staff are very friendly and the runs are very spread out. It's the kind of place you can ski for 6 hours and still have a great time.
