Not much snow on the ground, but decent snow on the slopes...Could have been better groomed.....but, we spent a lot of time on the learner's slope watching our grandkids.. We had a 3 year old, a 6 year old, and an 8 year old come away from lessons and practice very capable skiiers....That made the visit more than terrific...

The snow was good, the rain dampened the spirits but didn't hurt the grooming much. People still don't learn not to congregate at the lift openings, but that's an Eastern thing I guess. Town was interesting and the food good. Will come again and stay longer if they get some more snow.

The trip to Holiday Valley was excellent but we learned a few things! 1. If you're an adult, you need I.D. before personally picking up your lift tickets at the Main Lodge. As a parent, I could pick up my son's ticket easily. 2. If you need to rent skis or boards (not boots though) you can do so much cheaper at a snowsport store called "Dekdebrunners" in the sparkly town below the ski hill. They charge $18 for Youth Rentals and $28 for adults. Even helmets are $8, which is $1 cheaper than at Holiday Valley. PLUS, they offer next day returns (as long as it's back in the first hour of the day). That's a real bonus if you're tired at the end of a long day of skiing. 3. Dekdebrunners also sells used ski equipment and I found them both knowledgeable and very helpful. We ended up purchasing a full ski package for $287, used. We were delighted by that! 4. The lessons were well worth the time and money, particularly the skiing lessons. We went for semi-privates and the instructor was fantastic. 5. Highly recommend this trip to anyone!

I was there for a day trip. Excellent in every way. We have enjoed the express chair lift. The slopes were in good shape for the time of the season and not to mention it was + 14 Celsius.Oh well you could snowboard in t-shirts:-) Good value for the price we had payed $ 68 for two 8 hours tickets.

Make sure each person shows up (with photo ID) to personally pick up the passes at the Guest Relations window. My partner was parking the car and they wouldn't even let me bring in his driver's license to pick up the 2-day pass for him.

Great time! Lodging at Tamarack Club, ski-in/out - very convenient! Great trails & lots of them! Seems that it's one of a last chances to ski this season. Tip: liftopia's deals here are for 8 hours tickets only even if you buy multi-day ones. I got mine for $41 online and they were available at reception for $42 - not a big difference and way less headache when you buy right on the spot when you need it (i.e. weather condition etc.).

As a local (live within an hour's drive) I highly recommend eating and shopping in the Village of Ellicottville. The resturants, brew pub, taverns, ski shops and stores are all great and of good value. The locals are very friendly and entertaining. Enjoy one of New York's better kept secrets.

Best public skiing in WNY - Holimont doesn't count as it is a private club. Love the high speed chairs.

Lodging at the Wyndham-wingate in Ellicottville was very convenient. Liftopia's instructions are very clear, was easy at the resort. No complaints, GREAT TIME, and yearly event with family. Love the Tannenbaum trails! no lines midweek, lots of runs.

Liftopia offers 2-day passes for HV where you can save a few more dollars per day. We stayed at the Wingate and booked online through hotels.com for even more savings on our recent trip (Feb 13-16).

John is correct that you MUST cash these vouchers in at the Guest Relations office before starting your ski day. Also, if you buy multiple ONE day passes (as we did), you have to go in EVERY day and get the new pass. Skiing is just about the BEST you can get on the east coast. It gives you the feel of a SLC ski resort without the 5 hour flight. Go during the week -- NO LIFT LINES! :-D

Great skiing, horrible staff. Made the trip to NY from Ohio. Stayed at the resort. Nearly every single staff member our group came in contact with seemed to hate their job or their life and wanted everyone to be as miserable as them. Despite all this, the skiing was awesome and we will definitely be back to ski. However, we wont be staying or eating at the resort.

Make sure that you redeem your Liftopia voucher at the Guest Relations office next to the Main Lodge if you,re going up to Yodeler or Tannenbaum. You will be sent back down the mountain to that office anyway as that is the only place to convert the voucher.
