Wintergreen Resort Reviews & Tips (4)

As long as the temperatures are cold enough, Wintergreen makes a lot of snow and the snow is very good quality. So I don't typically find it particularly icy (except maybe late afternoon when the snow cover has been skied off). There is a really nice division into distinct areas for more advanced skiers, beginners, and intermediates. This is a great place to teach kids to ski. Take advantage of the opportunities to pre-rent equipment and get lift tickets ahead of time.

- Buy tickets in advance on Liftopia if you can before the deals end about mid-December. - Rent a tote (basket) for the day ($8) rather than renting a tiny locker. The basket will hold all the gear for two people, you can return to exchange items from the basket as many times as you wish during the day/night. - Great place to learn or advance skill levels, instructors were very helpful (get private lessons rather than group). - Highly recommended.

This is a great place to teach your kids to ski - easy slopes, easy access to lodge and very convenient to Cville.

This is my favorite place in Virginia. I live in Richmond and this is not to far away. The trail map on here is outdated because they have changed around a couple ratings and switched one trail into the progressive terrain park. It is a good mountain for the price though bring your own food because it can get very expensive. They don't get a lot of natural snow so they blow there own which gets very icy. The lifts are well maintained and have plenty of staff looking after them so they don't stop running unless someone falls while getting on or off. The staff is a lot of foreign students on break and want to spend there summer in our winter. This means they are not always knowledgable of the park but they still try to be helpful. Overall this is a great resort and I would recommend it.

  • - Would you go again?
  • - What would you say to others with your skill level who are interested in going?
