For best parking, park at the Tamahawk lift parking lot on the upper mountain and take the shuttle bus to the Overlook Lodge to purchase your tickets. To avoid the crowds on busy weekends, stay on the trails off of the Tamahawk lift.

Awesome experience last weekend at Belleayre. It was unseasonably warm (45-50) for mid February the 2 days we were on the mountain but the snow was still pretty good. Lower half of the mountain is perfect for beginners with several long, winding green and blue runs. Top half of the mountain is more advanced but still has plenty of runs with plenty of space. Lodge food was delicious and reasonably priced. Be sure to eat at the Peekamoose Restaurant if you're staying in the area, its not inexpensive but the food is outstanding and well worth it! I will definitely be back to Belleayre and the Peekamoose!

Very nice mountain. The trail at the top is really flat and you have to pole to the top of the trails. I like the fact that the beginners were at the lower mountain, separated from the intermediate and advanced trails at the upper half of the mountain. We were at Belleayre on February 15th when it snowed and the conditions were very soft. Later in the afternoon all the trails had moguls. Staff was friendly and helpful. The main lodge was packed at noon and it was tough to find a seat. Fortunately, people were willing to share tables. One complaint was that some groups "reserved tables" by placing table cloths or their stuff on the seats, which made the overcrowding even worse, I would go again.

Went this past Sunday. Belleayre has perfect trails for beginners. I thought the lift lines and speed were not bad at all so not sure what some of the reviewers are talking about. I went with my 6 year old son and we had no problems on the lifts. I was a bit upset that they ran out of skiis and snowboard equipments as early as 10:30 in the morning. I went with a few other friends and they were unable to ski or snowboard because there were no more rentals and the line was ridiculous. Although a few of the guys at the rental area did help gather some equipment around 1PM. Also the Discovery Lodge area was so crowded, with people practically on top of each other. They also need to add more lockers. People's stuffs were everywhere! Other than that, great mountain and ski conditions. Would definitely go back. If you go on the weekend though, make sure you have your own equipment.

Visited Bellayre this past weekend. Although the mountain was in excellent shape (well groomed trails, lodges/trails easily accessible) I had one stand out problem with the mountain, the lift operators. Specifically, the Superchief lift had extremely long lines all day. I found that the staff member organizing the lines for the lift was utilizing a haphazard, unorganized, and irrational method of mixing and matching two's, three's, and single riders. Especially after having visited Windham mountain on the same weekend (which had similar crowds, but much shorter lines at the lifts) the most significant difference was that Windham had a simple, organized method of loading the lifts, rotating one group from each line at a time...the system practically ran itself and did not depend on the whimsy of a single staff person. Overall, great mountain, but they really need to get a handle on properly training staff members to get those lines moving, it costs you too many runs throughout the course of a day.

Good mountain to ski & board. Lodges are very good as well. We were there with another family on 2/15 - it was some of the best ski conditions I'ver ever had in NY, no crowds and great snow! My cautions are for families - the attendants at the lifts never slow down the lifts unless it's for ski school. After having a 6 year old fall off as they were getting on - and having her head hit, we asked that they slow down - but never did. My son almost fell off as well 2x, got caught up 2 more times and lost a ski. I witnessed other families having the same issue repeatedly throughout the day. These guys were terrible, no caution or care for safety. So end review, great for adults but would not recommend for children under 10.

First trip to Bellaire. Best snow I have skied in years they had just had 14 inches of fresh snow earlier in the week. My kids did great and received private lessons with Levan 2 days and he was great. Avoid Saturday...Friday was awesome and Sunday wasn't too bad. This a great family mountain. Liftopia tickets are great for one day trips but you do need to wait in line. For a 3 day pass it would have been 25.00 cheaper to get a voucher from the hotel we stayed at and purchase on mountain but for single day Liftopia was a great deal. We will definitely return!

I loved it. Weekdays and Sundays are best. The snow was great. This mountain is great for beginners because there is a separate area for beginners which is safer for everyone. It also has a great expert/intermediate area (Tomahawk) where intermediate skiers can get off the chair midway - again safer for everybodyl My 5 yr old spent a day in Kidscamp and loved it. Register early though. Group lessons are only available on the weekends. The beginner chair is slower and very user friendly. I would definitely go ski Belleayre again. Best mountain in the NJ/PA/NY area.

1/30/13 never been - pleasantly surprised - great snow conditions, better than some of the vermont resorts - pretty much the entire mountain open except for trails w/out snow guns - looking forward to bringing my beginner/intermediate friends back - weekdays BEST - can't imagine what madness it must be on weekends - overall, a nice cruiser day.

My wife and I went up on last Thursday. It was well groomed and empty! Use the Tomahawk Chair, it was great, no waiting. Although the mogul runs had snow, we stayed off them and did the steeper runs which had plenty of snow. Overall we rated it as overall good Eastern conditions. Some runs were closed and being groomed for the weekend. Also, they were making snow on runs during the day, but that did not cause any inconvenience. The temps were perfect, low to upper teens, sunny and no wind. It was a relaxing and beautiful 1st day of the season for us both. Lodge was not crowded, people and staff were all pretty friendly. We will go back soon as they get more natural snow.

Great mtn never there before. Worth the trip. a lot of traversing on the board, but since there are no crowds it wasn't as much of a hassle. Good snow that day, I would go again.

Mountain was EMPTY and conditions (grooming and coverage) were excellent. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. This is a great place for beginners, however the advanced crowd may be left yearning for more. WAY too much traversing. That combined with lift 7 not turning that day and the painfully slow tomahawk lift, left me feeling like I should have gotten in way more runs than I did, considering how empty it was. If you're going during the week be sure and bring your own lunch as the culinary offerings leave much to be desired. Tough to choose between the old soggy cheeseburger that had been sitting around waiting for who knows how long to be put back on the grill, or the previously prepared turkey sandwich that was clearly at least a week old. All in all, with the liftopia discount, a good value.

Always good conditions (they really do get a lot of snow), but be aware that the lower lodge is undergoing bathroom renovations, and those conditions were "stinky". Also, if using the 4th Graders "I Ski NY" coupons, make sure you're purchasing a full price adult ticket at same time, otherwise the ski 4 free coupon will not be honored. Looking forward to getting there again before end of season!

Definitely rent skis at Jimmy's! Go by 8:15 to just beat the crowds…then head up to Bellayre. Good parking tips above. The mountain is wonderful…not sure how much of a secret it is, but still great. Bring food if you can… Great for kids. Instructors are excellent. MY ONLY WARNING IS STAY AWAY FROM LIFT 7!!!

Its MLK weekend. Why fight crowds at other places, when you can ski at Belleayre? Conditions today (1/18/14) were better than expected, with a light snow continually falling all day making some great carving on the sides of most hills and some good snow all around to sink into and enjoy. While the rain has done some damage to all area resorts/mtns, conditions today were better than just favorable. Best kept secret? Ski the west side off the Tomahawk lift and Dot Nebel. When conditions are good, you can't beat this. Overall, Belleayre Mtn, is a great place to learn. There are truly some excellent instructors here for boarding and skiing. Take a group or private lesson. You can make friends here and have an awesome day, whether you're on a groomed trail, in the park, or a glade. There is something for everyone here, from the beginner skier on the lower mtn, to the intermediate and advanced skiers on the upper. My faves? Dot Nebel, Belleayre Run. For a scenic view, take Deer Run from top to bottom off the Tomahawk lift. Accessible for the intermediate skier. You can jet over to Tomahawk going up Lift 7 mid station and cutting over to the tomahawk lift. Follow the signs. 3 decent lifts, from the high speed quad (super chief) to lift 7(triple) and tomahawk to get to the trails. Snowmaking has gotten better each year, and in 2014, they are really keeping it up to ensure even with this wacky weather, that there will be snow on the mountain. Definitely check this out. You won't be disappointed.

Had three really superb days at Bellayre. Late March and the conditions were peak conditions. Personally think this is one of the only places before you get to Vermont or NY where you will get quality, consistent snow. The trails were diverse and separate mountain for learners. My son enjoyed the nursery program and plan to get him started in the ski school when he is old enough. I like the fact I can ski a mountain and get a similar feeling if I can't make the trek to Vermont. Very natural resort, which I like. The amenities are fairly low-key if that is a big thing for you really not your place. I personally like the log cabin "rustic" type of ski lodge. Only complaint the lifts on some of the mountain are really slow.

Belleayre's slopes have great snow even when you think they wouldn't, we had a great day last weekend and planning on going again next weekend, especially as I see snow in the forecast this week too. The slopes are not at all crowded as I think people don't realize it's still open. The views are beautiful and it's a veru fun day of skiing. We love the local restaurants too, especially THE BACKROOM in Andes, great food and very inexpensive, plus only a short drive away.

Had a great day of family skiing this past Sunday. Enough terrain for both experts, beginners, and everyone in-between. Temperatures in high 40s even 50 but still plenty of snow left from the Friday storm (12"). There were some bare patches of brown but only on some of the expert runs, i.e. glades & bumps. Doesn't look like making snow is a priority here though. Very friendly staff. Not crowded at at all considering it had just snowed, it was the weekend, and the weather was gorgeous. They should replace one of the upper mountain lifts with a faster one, it would make a world of difference. If the lines had been longer, our experience would have been different, but for whatever reason, most people go to Hunter or Windham. We are definitely coming back here! In addition to the tip of parking at the mid-lodge if you are not a beginner or don't need to rent equipment, if you are planning on exploring the trails towards the Tomahawk lift, don't plan on trekking there from the top of either the Super Chief Lift or Lift No. 7; it's an uphill journey. Just keep skiing down and heading to your left. The trail map was not very helpful about that. Read about the high food prices so we brought our own and simply left our bag hanging on a peg in the lower lodge. No problems there. Lodge food is always expensive for what you're paying for so plan ahead.

My daughter is 9 years old and we go skiing a couple of times during the season but not on a weekday. This past Thursday, she a half day at school so I decided to take the full day and get there early with the Liftopia discount, it was a bargain. The mountain is split up nicely, beginners can stay between the middle and bottom lodges. There is plenty of challenging terrain. My wife and son have taken lessons there and loved it. The ticket price was reasonable, but to eat there will make you broke. A great family mountain.

I have 3 kids and when we stopped for lunch it cost me a small fortune. Chicken fingers a Milky Way and a drink was $16.50. The food is way over priced. My tip is to pack some sandwiches. As far as the skiing goes, the mountain could not be better for a family. Friendly staff and good skiing.

Book a private lesson! I was heading up by myself on Saturday (friend got sick) and I'm still fairly new to skiing so I booked a private 2hr lesson with John. It was a lot cheaper than other mountains and John was fantastic! He totally helped me get more comfortable and even took me on a blue trail. I now can say I ski the blues. :) As for the mountain, there are never major lines, the terrain was packed powder with very few spots that were icy. Overall, a great quiet, family friendly mountain just 2 hours from the city.

Belleayre is a fine family destination for skiing. As stated in other reviews, the lower lodge area is for beginners and rentals. In addition, Belleayre has a wonderful Kids Camp option. Great for kids learning to ski with parents wanting to ski! Definitely a great value and fine place to ski. I think that the food is underrated, not bad for a ski lodge and not overpriced.

If you buy your tickets on Liftopia you still have to stand on the long line outside to get your lift ticket. There is no will call window and they won't take you at customer service. Then when you get to the front of the line, they'll tell you the scanner is not working and you'll have to go inside after waiting on line for 20+ minutes. Quite frustrating.

Wow. What a nice trip to the Belle. The kids did not have school as it was a staff development day, so six of us, two dads and our four kids traveled through several inches of snow and one hour and forty minutes car ride to get there. Normal lift tickets are $47 for adults but during our trip it was their winterfest week and they were offering $30 tickets BUT we got ours on liftopia for $23.50. Thank you for the deal and the opportunity to ski a nice mountain. The conditions were great with many trails open for all levels within our party of six. The layout of the mountain was unique with the multiple lodges, and configuration of the greens, blues and black slopes. The mountain was not busy or overly crowded. The staff was very helpful, talkative and thankful that we were there. No problem with the liftopia tickets at all and the whole process from finding, purchasing, redeeming, and skiing the mountain was so easy. Some have commented about long lines, slow lifts, and even rude people, but we did not experience any of this at all. Some folks might be spoiled with their bigger mountain lifts and so forth, but we are used to some smaller mountains in central new york and we enjoyed the lifts at the Belle. We will be back, as it was such an enjoyable day in the Catskills.

Good mountain. Too bad a couple of the trails were closed when we went on the Saturday MLK w/e. The lines to the Super Chief lift were especially long. I spent most of my time waiting on line than on the trails. Overall good, easy mountain to ride. Definitely get there early when the lifts are opened so not to deal with the crowds at the lift lines.

I have never skied Bellaire before, but 3 of us decided to do a 2-day trip to NY. Our second day, NY was expecting some snow. We hit the mountain on a perfect conditioned day! For the Springlike weather and rain we recently received, the mountain was in great shape and open enough to get a variety of terrain. I really enjoyed the diamonds and double diamonds...it was a great day of fun. It allowed my friends to ski blues and I ski the blacks and meet up at the end of the trail to ride up the lift together. I was not bored and ready for another run...each time was a different experience with the constant fresh powder coming down. I highly recommend this mountain and I will definitely go back again!

This mountain has a perfect area for beginner-intermediate learning. It is isolated from the rest of the mountain and offers long groomed green runs plus a few blues. Up top is a variety of terrain, including entertaining moguls of different sizes on blue, black, and double black trails, perfect for a strong intermediate skier! No snow in the forecast, but snow showers fell on the mountain all afternoon anyway. Almost no ice on any of the trails .Lodge is kind of lame, food so-so, but the mountain is fun and the snow conditions above average. On the downside, the ski school advertised that if 3+ skiers signed up for a group lesson, the lesson would run 1 1/2 hours. But this was not the case, they stopped at one hour even with a large group.

Belleayre is a great mountain to take advantage of when different levels of skiers go to the mountain together. Lower mountan has beginners terrain thats more than just a bunny slope, while others in the family can hit the upper mountain and glades. Then later you can all meet up and ski easy groomers together.
