Mount Peter Reviews & Tips (12)

Bought Liftopia tickets for a Tuesday. Mount Peter has half-price Tuesdays which would have been cheaper. Also, the Liftopia lift tickets only allowed us access until 5pm when the half-price tickets would have allowed access until 9pm. The guys in the rental shed and the lift operators were cheerful and friendly. The two women in the lift ticket shed were surly and rude. Nice short trails. Well groomed. Not a lot of variety but fun for a day.

This mountain is a real gem!!! I took my girlfriend skiing here and she has never gone before, and it was the PERFECT place to teach her. Midweek, there was not a second to wait on the lifts, and the snow conditions were perfect. The mountain had the right balance of all difficulties for her to progress through the day as she got better. It is definitely a smaller mountain, but perfect for beginners. I couldn't of asked for a better experience. They even have a racing hill with the racing poes (I don't know the correct term) and it seemed many racers went there to practice. Amazing price, and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful, like they enjoyed being there as supposed to it just being a job. I would recommend this to everyone.

This place was fantastic! This was my husband's second time skiing and by the end of the day he was on the blue trails. While the trails are a bit short, they allow you to really gain your confidence as a beginner. The staff was super friendly and helpful! We were there on a weekday and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves without lift lines. My husband had a really great time here (that says a lot) as did I. Shawnee (PA) has a much better bunny slope for learning to ski, but their green trails are too advanced for beginners in my opinion. Mount Peter was incredibly cheap, easy to get to, and snow conditions couldn't have been better.

I needed to get a ski fix and had a few hours to kill on a weekday. Mt Peter is only about an hour from me and the tickets were cheap. It's been said before, but these trails are short. I measured the time to ride the chair up and ski to the bottom, it was 4 minutes. I was expecting this to be shorter than other NY mountains I'm accustomed to (Hunter, Windham, etc) but these trails are probably about 1/8 the length of those. However, I still had a good time. There's a mogul section, and I've never really done any moguls, so I had a good time, going over it again and again working on my technique, and since it was a weekday, I'd literally ski to the bottom and right onto a chair. Same goes for the terrain park. I'm not a freestyle, big air kinda person, but I like to dabble, and the fact that you don't have to take a long chair ride, then ski a bunch before you get to the 1 or 2 feature in the park that I use, it makes it quick and you're able to go through a bunch of times in a short period. Overall, I can't see myself going here regularly, and after about 3 hours (including a half hour lunch break), I was totally bored and done, but I might go back here again for some cheap, quick fun.

Great mountain for beginners and intermediates. Super-local, easy to get to, lots of instructors for lessons. I took my stepdaughter there to teach her how to ski, the lines moved very quickly and the snow was perfect - no ice anywhere on the mountain on 2/07. Only gripes - the tables in the lodge are always "reserved" by a non-skiing member of a family and it's very difficult to find a place to sit unless you "claim" a table first thing in the morning!

Terrific place for beginners. First time ever skiing and snowboarding. Took the free lesson for both. I already successfully completed one of their blue trails on skis. Snowboarding takes a lot more practice but you won't find a better place to learn. If it's your first time ever skiing or snowboarding, this is the place for you. Free lessons on weekends really make a difference.

Went on a Monday right after the holidays. Mountain was practically empty until 3pm. Friendly staff. Snow wasn't bad for being artificial. Would recommend for families and beginners. Trails are short and intermediates and up would probably become jaded quick.

Mt Peter is a great place to take the kids for a day trip. Very easy to get too. Very family friendly, each time I have been there this season, even on a warmer day, plenty of snow, no ice. if any lines they move quick. Mountains are not crowded and you arent being plowed down. I would definetly recommend filling out forms and paying in advance if possible. Also, maybe packing lunch but all in all..would definetly go back.

Spent a weekend skiing on Mount Peter and thanks to great weather it was one of the most pleasant experiences. The snow was very good, especially the second day, since it snowed about 4" overnight. The lines were between short and very short, although only one lift was open the first day. Although a small place, it has trails from beginner to advanced level. The staff is friendly and keeps an eye on the kids. There are quite a few bed and breakfast places nearby if one cares to stay overnight.

Mt peter is a great starter mountain and especially for kids. It has twice as many trails as nearby mountains and half the crowds. Highly recommended for an easy to get to and easy to get right on mountain.
