Bellville and Butler area residents Rick Weemhoff, Brian Johnson, Ben Flynn and Luke Flynn, partners in Slater Run Land Development LLC, all grew up in the Clear Fork area and worked and skied at Clear Fork Ski Resort. In April of 2011, the foursome unveiled a $55 million Clear Fork Resort project to re-open the resort, which closed in 2006... and had been a popular ski destination for more than 40 years.
The partners plan to capitalize on the location and the 191-acre property by improving winter activities and adding concerts, festivals, shows, an indoor pool and facilities for private parties. During the next five years, the group plans to add vacation-style lodging, improvements to the current lodge and a new lodge and conference center. The project will enable skiers and non-skiers a wide variety of activities, such as miniature golf, a motocross track, BMX and ATV trails, primitive camping, covered swimming pools, a new tubing lodge and three new hills.
