Spectacular views! Nice grooming. Charming place. Well worth the drive. Dirt cheap tickets. If you are 65 or over its 20$ Canadian every day at the mountain. Combine with a day at Orford or Sutton. They are not far.

This is a great mountain for young kids picking up skiing. My four and five year olds started out on the tame Magic Carpet on our first trip here in January, quickly demanding to try the beginner (Red) lift that takes off very close by. We returned in February, after a couple of ski days other places, and made it over to the next beginner lift (Black). I managed to make a couple runs from the top while my husband managed the hot chocolate break in the small, reasonably-priced, friendly lodge (the bar has some nice tables that welcome families mid-day too). I discovered that while on skiers' left both blues and blacks were scraped by the end of the day, Lilly's Leap was still beautiful skiing... both the snow and the spectacular view. On our way back, I told my kids I thought that would be a great run for them. And last weekend, we did it. The night before we got 10 cm of fresh, winter powder. First we took a few runs lower on the mountain and followed a 5 year old friend familiar with the mountain through the trees all the way to the Green lift. Then my kids ended up on the main quad four times to run Lilly's Leap, gaining confidence each time. What a great way to experience their first Top of the Mountain run! Amazing mountain. Especially with fresh snow.

If you typically only make it as far north as Jay Peak, you might want to consider a trip to Owls Head in Southern Quebec for a nice mountain with over 1600 ft. vertical drop with a spectacular view of lake Memphemagog . The blue trails from the top can be as challenging as black trails at many US resorts. Lower lifts protect you from the wind common at the summit top. Also, some great B&B's to consider in the Mansonville Area like La Chouette which offer very good deals and not all that far from Jay Peak. Also, Tuesday and Wednesday $20 lift tickets which can't be beat. I went in January with my 10 year old son and had a good time. Old fashioned ski resort with eight lifts, four of them quads, ski conditions were machine groomed packed powder with some light fresh snow for covering. I will return to this mountain in the future.

Owl's Head is a spectacular location with amazing views of Lake Memphremagog on one side, and Jay Peak on the other. It's close enough to Montreal for a nice day trip. Nice glade runs, various degrees of difficulty and just an all-round fun time with long runs. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet place to escape with less slope traffic than other notable locations in Quebec or Vermont. My 3 buddies and myself had a spectacular time with amazing photos taken. If you haven't been, don't miss the chance to go! We will definitely be aiming to go back this season!

I went up witht the kids after a mixture of rain and snow so the skiing was so-so. But the mountain is absolutely amazing with spectacular views. The resort has all the amenities but it is a little run down and will soon need a facelift.

Just returned from 3 days of the best spring skiing i've ever experienced. Keep taking new people, all of varying skill levels, and they can't wait to return. If you want/need the FAKE swiss alps village, this perhaps is not for you, but if you love skiing for skiing you can't beat the value & variety of terrain this hill offers. PS, if you can't find accommodation hillside there are cabins/cottage to rent nearby, but you have to look hard.

Not a place for snowboarders. There are many flat areas to cross midway down the hills, and tons of skiers resulting in most of the runs being full of moguls. Delightful mountain and staff, however.

Beautiful mountain. January 20th was a real powder day--ice was not an issue. January 19th was a little powder over a hard surface with plenty of ice. (Yes it can be icy following the rain events we have been having this season, but if you get your edges sharpened, its quite manageable.) If your party contains novice skiers, there is a large area of the lower mountain for them, serviced by a couple of lifts, so its quite beautiful for novices. The upper mountain is for more advanced skiers and experts. Beautiful views of the lake. Not a huge mountain, but lots of fun and beautiful runs.

Don't listen to the conditions on their website Owl's Head was crazy icy, this past weekend, leading to many out of control skiers, almost took out a kid.

Awesome powder on Sunday at Owl's Head! We had a challenging morning with dense fog, but it cleared up after lunch and we skiied top to bottom till our legs were fried! First day of the season and it was great! We love the friendly staff, great runs and no lift lines!

Love Owl's Head! We had a powder day on Sunday and the conditions were challenging because of dense fog in the morning. However the afternoon cleared up and we skiied top to bottom until our legs were fried! I love the low-key atmosphere of the place, the friendly staff, and lack of crowds!

We have been skiing there on and off for 30 years or so. Everyone stops for the view from Lilly's Leap. It is the best I've ever seen in for than 50 years on the slopes.

Get there early so you can enjoy the day! It's a beautiful mountain with wide runs that are perfect for beginners. The best thing about this mountain is that you don't spend most of your time waiting for the lifts ... you get in more runs per hour than you do at any other mountain. I went with two skiers who are much more experienced and they had nothing to but good things to say of the intermediate and expert runs. This mountain really gives you the most bang for the buck, even though it closes at 4:00. There's room for a lot of improvement, though. The cafeteria needs microwave ovens ... although the food is good and less expensive than elsewhere, they don't offer very many "healthy" choices. The bathrooms and lifts need major facelifts and the mountain needs to be groomed more often when the snow starts flying. Do any of these things detract from the pleasure of skiing Owl's Head? No! This jewel shines despite the few drawbacks!!

Owl's Head is the best kept secret in Quebec - a big mountain with spectacular views of Lake Memphremagog at a very reasonable price. Only 1.5 hours from Montreal, Owl's Head is old-school skiing - no blaring music, wicked glade runs, few shredders and never any lineups.
