Silver Star Reviews & Tips (8)
Silver Star is certainly "My Mountain" as well, just like their slogan says. There is nothing bad to say about the mountain, except that the village is somewhat sleepy and night life is non-existent. The snow is plenty, light & dry. Go ski the back side from the Comet Express chair, through the second gate to the Powder Gulch Express (Putnam Creek: Backside). The first gate (Bergerstrasse) is much longer and mostly green & flat. The Putnam Creek (Backside) offers mostly black & double black runs, the front side mostly perfect blue cruiser runs. Great lifts as well. I would go back there any day and certainly recommend Silver Star to everyone, from the beginner to the expert.
I stayed at the roomy & clean SameSun Hostel, which is ski-in-ski-out right at the resort.
Thank you Liftopia for saving me $ on a 2-day lift pass.

This was the first time I used Liftopia.com It was the best deal out there. Absolutely no hassles. I was amazed. I showed my id and no problem. Liftopia.com if they continue with this kind of discount package for the future has got me sold on other locations too.
I highly recommend Silver Star for your overall family experience. I bought a 3 day lift ticket. It is valid for using the ice rink and inner tubing too. The amenities of the resort is what makes it great.

Another awesome powder day at Silver Star Mountain! Went with a couple of friends on Jan. 12, 2013. Fresh powder + sunny blue skies = WICKED! Bought our Liftopia passes the night before and crossed our fingers that there would be no hassle redeeming the voucher. Absolutely no problem at all and in about 30 seconds we had lift tickets in our hands. Easiest 24% I've ever saved.
My favorite runs of the day:
- Cowabunga
- Mine Shaft
- Holy Smokes
- Any of the gladed runs at the Silver Woods chair.
Definitely taking advantage of this deal again this season!

In the past lift tickets had been purchased through a corporate discount program, this year I was searching for a reduced cost opportunity online and came across Liftopia. We love the mountain, have skied here or years. You can always find a lift that isnt as busy as the 6 pack on the front of the mountain even through the holiday break. We found all the liftree's and staff on the mountain extremely friendly this year. Nice to see they are really making an effort to keep us coming back and enjoy our time while we are there. Tip: the day care does not take kids under 18mths even by a few days and give yourself lots of time for rentals, its real busy in the morning. Purchase your liftopia tx online and its ready for you at the tx booth the next day. I also wonder about purchasing tx's the same day. How does that work Liftopia? Great snow beautiful mountain!!

Silverstar is an awesome family-friendly ski resort experience. The village is like being in a snowy, white story book - completely charming with great selection and reasonable prices. The resort itself has lots of good terrain and decent lift access although we did our share of skate skiing on traverses between some lifts. Ski in/ski out access is available for most accommodation, but try to stay close to the village where it's easiest to pick up tickets/rentals, get to lessons, and meet for lunch.
The terrain is good but they are 'easy markers' - some of the runs rated as black diamonds (expert) would have been blue squares at other resorts like Whistler/Blackcomb. Views and scenery are utterly jaw-dropping. However, fog is common at Silverstar so be prepared to ski above, in and below some cloud cover. Also, while night skiing is advertised, it's limited to only a couple of lifts.
We were there on New Years Eve and watched a beautiful torch light procession, followed by an amazing 20 minute fireworks presentation. I highly recommend this - it was the perfect way for our family to start the new year.
Liftopia tickets worked perfectly without any hiccups or problems. Thanks for the deal!

The mountain is great, lots of runs, very short lift lines, good mixed of groomed and ungroomed runs, friendly attitude. Our group ranges from very beginner to very experienced and everyone comes home happy!
Bugaboos is a perennial favorite for the mid day meet up but be sure to check out some of the other shops (Out of Bounds coffee and apple cider are awesome).

A lot better control of the hill, good manners mostly by all. Avoid Big White, loaded with real crazies and kids smoking pot and showing off, BAD NEWS.
