Batawa Ski Hill ………Come have some fun!
Nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Batawa, is the Batawa Ski Hill. Established in 1955 by a dedicated group of Bata Shoe factory employees, they obtained permission from Mr. Thomas Bata to clear some trees and install a homemade rope tow on one of the hills close to the shoe factory. These employees had... a keen interest in community spirit and skiing. With hard work and sheer determination they founded the Batawa Ski Hill. Today, the ski hill has evolved to three lifts and seven runs with state of the art snow making and grooming.
Minutes outside of Trenton, Ontario, Batawa Ski Hill is a great place for people to enjoy Alpine Skiing, in the Quinte Region. Batawa Ski Hill draws a wide crowd of people from Prince Edward County, Belleville, and Kingston. Many Loyalist College, St. Lawrence College and Queen’s University students enjoy the rush at Batawa Ski Hill being just an hour from Kingston. The Batawa Ski Hill Rental Shop is equipped with Elan Skis and Snowboards. We are able to suit up the beginner skier to the advanced. We do not have tobogganing at Batawa Ski Hill.
Snowmaking and night lighting is improved for skiing after school and into the evenings all winter. The terrain park will feature new jibs, expanded terrain and a dedicated park staff. With even more upgrades to the lifts now underway, skiers and boarders will find their way to the top of the hill with ease.
A new marketing team is making the ski hill look better than ever. “We hope to raise the awareness of everyone on our doorstep that the ski hill is open year-round and just minutes away for some of the best recreation in this region. Winter offers run and terrain park improvments that will suit the most advance skier in the family and those kids who are just starting out, while summer offers trails for hiking and mountain biking and our fun summer camps” explained Ski Hill general manager Steve Spiessman.
