Valle Nevado is South America's foremost ski resort, offering access to the largest amount of terrain and the most modern lift system on the continent. The resort is just 90 minutes from Santiago, nearly 10,000 feet high in the spectacular Andes Mountains, the 2nd-highest peaks in the world. The treeless, wide-open terrain, outstanding side and backcountry options, and a stellar heli-ski operation make Valle a favorite with both day skiers and destination guests. Valle Nevado is the most developed of all the Chilean resorts, offering skiers and snowboarders a complete experience, with three comfy and attractive hotels, private condominium rentals, and boutique shops, six restaurants, a full-service spa and fitness center, cinema, library, bars and lounges, a pub with live music, sports entertainment center, and breathtaking views of the magnificent Andes from every direction. Due to the resort's altitude, location, and orientation, Valle Nevado on average receives the most snow of all resorts in the Central Valley, with a season that runs from late June to the end of September. The resort has 2,200 acres of in-bound terrain, but guests lodging for a week at one of the hotels receive two interconnect tickets to neighboring resorts, opening a staggering 7,000 acres. Day skiers and snowboarders head to the resort's "Curva 17," a service center with gear and clothing rentals, ski shop, Ski and Snowboard School, ticket counters, and a cafe. Day visitors can rent gear in Santiago, or opt for one of Valle Nevado's day pass specials that include lift tickets and rentals, and/or lessons. Valle Nevado prides itself on high-quality gear rentals that include regular and prestige rentals. As a rule, there are no lift lines on any given day at Valle Nevado, and in the late afternoon you'll see very few people on the mountain, which means powder days tend to last far longer than at a US resort. Mountain guides are available for a cost; check at the Ski School for more information....Read more
