Winter Park Ski Report, Mountain Conditions and Resort Statistics

9,450 ft Base Elevation
11 ft Peak Elevation
2,610 ft Vertical Drop

Winter Park is another gem in the skiing-giant Intrawest’s crown. Spreading across three peaks and 3,078 acres, Winter Park, and its sister mountain, Mary Jane, are located only 90 minutes from Denver in the center of Colorado’s ski country. Winter Park is a destination resort not to be missed offering terrain variety, big mountain experience, and an awesome Village to explore. The resort receives an annual average of 336 inches of snowfall a season and provides skiers and boarders with classic Colorado powder, some of the best moguls around, backcountry access, and over 3,000 feet of vertical! Winter Park Resort is spread over three interconnected mountains: Winter Park, Mary Jane, and Vasquez Ridge. Mary Jane, a local favorite, has a separate base area and is best known for moguls and local flavor. It also offers a surplus of tree-skiing, Parsenn Bowl, and hidden huts. Though contrary to popular belief, it is not all about the moguls and advanced trails, Mary Jane’s backside offers long intermediate groomers and beautiful access alongside the national forest. Mary Jane Trail, a wide-open groomer off of the Super Gauge Express is the perfect run from top to bottom. Mary Jane also hides free slope side parking, so park here and hop on the free bus to the base village at Winter Park. Vasquez Ridge and Winter Park Mountain offer plenty of intermediate terrain, groomers, terrain parks and the Winter Park half pipe. Best powder stashes are on Outrigger and Retta’s Run while best groomer/mogul half and half trail is often Bradley’s Bash and Balch trails. Dip over to the Mary Jane off the Outhouse Trees for a real wild ride. Winter Park’s two other sections, Parsenn Bowl and Vasquez Cirque offer variety to traditional ski terrain. Parsenn Bowl is a true blue with long open groomers and stunning views of the Continental Divide while the Cirque is accessed by backcountry gates and some of the mountain’s most challenging terrain. Either as an intermediate skier or expert skier you are offered terrain at the very top of the Continental Divide topping 12,000 feet elevation. In the last few years at Winter Park, there have been several mountain upgrades, the addition of four new lifts, and completion of a base village. The village has many amenities with plenty of lodging like the ski in/ski out Zephyr Lodge or deluxe condos at Frasers Crossing/Founders Pointe, dining at one of the several restaurants, retail shops and an ice skating rink. Visit Winter Park for all the reasons you want a great ski vacation!...Read more
