Brand-new ski resorts are rare commodities these days. The opening of Cherry Peak Resort on Dec 21, 2015 marks the first such unveiling in Utah since Deer Valley in 1981. Located 17 miles from Logan, Cherry Peak is the realization of a childhood dream for John Chadwick. For the 2015-16 ski season, Cherry Peak will operate the Vista and Gateway triple-chair lifts accessing 800 vertical feet. When conditions allow, snowcat service can take guests up another almost 500 vertical feet to the area’s summit elevation of 7,050 feet. The resort has about 200 acres of inbounds skiable terrain. The base also features an outdoor ice-skating rink and a 15,000-square-foot day lodge. Located in a region with a strong Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints influence, Cherry Peak will be closed on Sundays in observance of the Sabbath.
